China Delivers the World's First 5,000-Ton C-Frame Press Brake
Sanhuan Forging presented and delivered a 5,000-ton C-frame CNC press brake in Huangshi, Hubei, on August 14, 2026. The two Chinese reports supplied for this article describe the PPEB5000/160 as the first heavy-duty machine of its type. It was developed for forming long, thick plate used in large industrial structures.
The reported specification combines 5,000 tons of forming force with a 16 m working length. The machine can process plate up to 30 mm thick. At this scale, the main challenge is to control frame deflection and bend angle while supporting and moving a heavy workpiece.
The reports list wind power, marine engineering, aerospace, construction machinery and large steel structures as target applications. Each application places different demands on tooling, material support and bend sequence. Rated force and working length describe only part of the machine's capability.
The machine uses a double-layer frame designed to increase structural stiffness, along with adaptive follower supports that control sag in long plates during bending. An automated handling and buffer system moves heavy workpieces through the production process.
The CNC platform combines graphical programming with digital-twin functions for process visualization and traceability. Laser angle measurement and dynamic deflection compensation help maintain consistent bending results under heavy loads.
For heavy forming work, buyers need to assess the frame, workpiece support, sensing, controls, software and material handling as one production system. Nominal tonnage does not show how the machine will perform on a specific part.
According to the Huangshi Daily report, a technology novelty review found three novel elements in the machine and identified it as the first heavy-duty C-frame press brake in its class. The project targets a segment that has relied heavily on imported equipment.
Chinese machine-tool builders are moving into larger and more demanding equipment categories. This gives manufacturers another source of machines that may offer lower purchase costs, more scope for customization and practical access to parts and service. Buyers should still test accuracy under load, tooling, foundation requirements, service response and spare-parts supply against the parts they plan to make.
Trade barriers and regional manufacturing policies are changing equipment decisions. Many manufacturers now place more weight on delivery risk, lifecycle cost and the ability to keep a machine running locally. Chinese machine tools can offer strong value when the machine, supplier and service plan fit the application.
Kazida Global is a global machine tool supplier. We provide new and inspected used machine tools, CNC machine tools, customized machines, production-line solutions and metalworking solutions. Our work with customers continues after machine selection, particularly when a project requires technical coordination, inspection or production planning.
For a heavy-duty press-brake project, start with the component. Material grade, maximum plate size, bend sequence, angle tolerance, tooling, production volume, foundation and local service requirements determine the suitable machine. Kazida Global can compare Chinese and international equipment options against those requirements, then coordinate the supporting resources needed for the project.
A press brake in this force class forms large or high-strength plate for structural components. Machine selection also depends on working length, tooling, material, support systems and bend sequence.
High forming loads can deform the frame and tooling. A rigid structure, angle measurement, workpiece support and deflection compensation help control the bend along the full working length.
Yes. Kazida Global can review the drawing, material, dimensions, tooling, production volume and site constraints before comparing new or inspected used machines and customized metal-forming solutions.
